a philosophy of wellness
Naturopathic Medicine is a system of medical care that combines scientific knowledge with traditional & natural medicines to promote wellness and reduce disease.
Naturopathic Medicine takes a natural and non-invasive approach to health through the use of Clinical Nutrition, Botanical (Herbal) Medicine, Homeopathy, Acupuncture and Lifestyle Counselling. The Naturopathic Doctor uses both conventional and Naturopathic assessment tools in order to investigate many common health complaints.
Our Naturopathic Doctors have years training as well as years of clinical experience. They are graduates of The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto and are professional members of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors and the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors.

The focus of Naturopathic Medicine is the prevention of disease while educating patients on the importance of wellness and the steps they can take to improve and maintain health. Disease is addressed at the root cause and health is approached holistically - taking into account physical, mental and emotional aspects of wellness.
Naturopathic Doctors can work in conjunction with other health care providers in order to provide the most effective and comprehensive health care possible to their patients. Naturopathic Medicine is regulated in the province of Ontario, with Naturopathic Doctors completing an intensive 4-year post-graduate program at an accredited Naturopathic school and completing a series of Board and licensing exams prior to entering practice.
what treatments will i receive?
Clinical Nutrition involves looking at the relationship between food and health. In Naturopathic Medicine, this means making necessary dietary changes, using nutrient-rich foods and may include nutritional supplementation to promote good health and prevent disease.
Botanical medicines consist of plants and various plant substances used in the treatment and prevention of disease. Botanical medicines can be in the form of teas, tinctures, supplements and topical ointments.
Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese practice of inserting thin solid needles into specific points in the body to promote the harmonious flow of Qi throughout the Meridians and achieve therapeutic effects. It is used to treat a variety of health conditions from musculoskeletal pain, hormonal imbalances and stress.
Homeopathy is a non-toxic therapy using highly diluted amounts of plant, mineral or animal substance to stimulate the body’s inherent ability to heal itself by promoting organ function, detoxification and the elimination of wastes and toxins from the body.
principles of naturopathic medicine
Identify and Treat the Causes
The naturopathic doctor seeks to identify and to remove the underlying causes of illness, rather than to merely eliminate or suppress symptoms.
First Do No Harm
Naturopathic doctors follow these three guidelines to avoid harming the patient: Use methods and medicines which minimize the risk of harmful side effects, using the least force necessary to diagnose and treat. Avoid, when possible, the harmful suppressing of symptoms. Acknowledge, respect and work with the individual's self-healing process.
Treat the Whole Person
Naturopathic doctors treat each patient by taking into account individual physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental and social factors.
Naturopathic doctors emphasize the prevention of disease by assessing risk factors, heredity and susceptibility to disease and making appropriate interventions in partnership with their patients to prevent illness.
Doctor as Teacher
Naturopathic doctors share information and knowledge with their patients and encourage self-responsibility for health.
Support the Healing Power of the Body
Naturopathic Medicine recognizes an inherent self healing process in the person which is ordered and intelligent. Naturopathic doctors act to identify and remove obstacles to healing and recovery, and to facilitate and increase this inherent self-healing process.
