Chiropractic Care is effective for many common painful conditions. We have experience treating the following conditions plus many more.
and healing can begin. Usually treatment involves some stretching and relaxing of muscles. It may also involve loosening up stiff joints by mobilizing or adjusting the joint. Exercises and use of heat or cold will be explained to help speed recovery
through daily “self treatment.”
is the first step. Stretches and use of heat or cold advice helps speed recovery. Postural exercises are often very helpful, also.
Each different cause requires a different approach to treatment. In most cases, the pain resolves in a few weeks, but a herniated disc will take weeks to months to recover.
from 30 minutes to several hours and are quite debilitating. Headaches can range from annoying to debilitating. The may be located in one spot or feel like you have a tight band around your head. Headaches may last up to several days. Both migraines
and headaches may be worsened by bright light, loud sounds or activity, which is why headache sufferers often like dark, quiet rooms.
Treatment involves targeting the muscles that are referring pain into the head, and adjusting
the upper spine. Migraines are often relieved quickly after an adjustment. A course of adjustments will reduce the frequency, severity and duration of both migraines and headaches, much the relief of sufferers.

cases, but must be done carefully. The muscle goes into a protective mode and doesn't like to be stretched. It is also very sensitive, so specific techniques are used to calm the spasm. When the muscle is less tight, treatment can advance to other,

to reduce inflammation. Soft tissue treatment helps reduce the tense muscles. There may be adjustments made to the joint if iti has become restricted in its movement. In time, the use of cold will switch to heat to help the muscles fully recover.
a tendon is less flexible than muscle and has less blood flow to it, it is more likely to become inflammed. Careful stretching helps to release the tension on the tendon. The use of ice helps reduce inflammation. In some cases, strengthening exercises
will be added to help prevent future occurences.

few weeks. The other form is also called “adhesive capsulitits.” This version of frozen shoulder causes a severe limitation of movement because the joint capsule (loose ligaments that enclose the joint) becomes stuck to itself. This causes pain
and often an inability to reach one's head or back pocket. This version has three distinct phases: inflammatory or “freezing”, adhesive and recovery or “thawing.” Each one can take several months if nothing is done. With treatment, the course
of this condition can be shortened to just a few months.
every time you first stand on the foot. Reducing the inflammation is the first step. This may be done with ice at home, or if the pain is severe, laser therapy in the office. Proper footwear is extremely important in healing plantar fasciitis.
In fact, one should never be barefoot if you have plantar fasciitis. Orthotics are the long term solution to healing plantar fasciitis and preventing future occurences.
If it does it partially, it is called a disc bulge. If it pushes right out of the ligament, it is a herniation. Pain is often in the back and felt down the leg. If it hurts down the back of the leg past the knee, it is known as sciatica. This
can happen in both cases and is thought to be due to inflammation irritating the nerve. Sometime with a herniation, the disc actually presses on the nerve and may cause weakness as well as pain.
Pain management is the first stage
of treatment with disc injuries. Soft tissue therapy to reduce added compression to the joint is a start. Ice is often recommended to help ease the pain. Different treatments like laser therapy, acupuncture as well as careful adjustments of the
spine helps to reduce pain. When the sciatica begins to recover, often the patient will start to feel back pain. This is called “nerve centralization” and is normal healing. Back stabilization becomes important later in treatment.
finger. If it isn't treated, it may produce atrophy of the mound of muscles at the base of the thumb.
Treatment is focused on reducing inflammation in the carpal tunnel, relaxing the muscles that are attached to the tendons and
stretching the muscles. Specific exercises may be done to help the nerve “glide” back and forth in the carpal tunnel.
Other forms of tendonitis that affect nerves are misdiagnosed as carpal tunnel. Getting the correct diagnosis is vital
to getting the right treatment.
added effect of the hormone relaxin on the ligaments leads to a more hypermobile spine and can add to the pain. Late in pregnancy, there are changes to how you walk, which may cause hip discomfort, too. Even though the baby continues to grow,
pain can be reduced and mum can be more comfortable.
After pregnancy, some women have continued pain. This is usually muscles that continue to be tight. Sometimes there are some hyper-mobility issues and stabilizing exercises are
prescribed. Also, the carrying of the baby changes from the low back to the upper back with holding and nursing. Postural recommendations and exercises help reduce these strains.
One last word. Having a young child is a risk factor for low
back pain development.
What Therapies Will I Receive?
Hands on Treatments
Spinal manipulation or adjusting the spine is a time proven approach to healing back, neck and other pains. Adjustments gently restore normal motion to “stuck” joints. This helps reduce strain on muscles that are trying to move the joint and are becoming strained. Because the spine is so close to the spinal nerves, it also stimulates the nervous system to reduce pain.
Soft Tissue Therapies
The spine does not exist on its own. Without muscles, we would not be able to move or even stand up! Treatment of muscles is crucial to recovering from many injuries. Techniques such as stretching, pressure point therapy or myofascial release may be used to treat you, depending on the circumstances.
Rehabilitative exercises are often useful to complete the recovery process after an injury. Specific exercises will be given to support any weaknesses. After that, general exercise also helps in your recovery.
Technology Assisted Treatments
This amazing piece of technology identifies and treats spinal pain and stiffness with a light force that is comfortable and consistent. The technology eliminates the need for twisting a patient and the cracking sound of an adjustment. Yet, the treatment is equally as effective and can be used with any patient, especially ones who don't like traditional chiropractic treatments. The ProAdjuster is a technology that brings choice for the patient when seeking pain relief. We are the only ProAdjuster Chiropractic Clinic in Brampton!
Low Intensity Laser Therapy
Speed healing with light energy. We use the Bioflex Low Intensity Laser Therapy System. This laser has two effective uses, it speeds healing of acute injury and stimulates healing of lingering chronic conditions. Using the healing power of light energy to stimulate the body's cells, this technology is very effective and is now used by professional sports teams. Now it is available to you too!
Your feet are your foundation. Computerized Gait Scan Analysis is a computerized system for analyzing pressure patterns and weight distribution of the feet. This is an accurate and less subjective system which when combined with in depth testing of the feet and ankles, pinpoints which patients would benefit from orthotics.
Your Nervous System
Adjusting stimulates the nerves that pass out of the spinal column near the spinal joints. These nerves go to all organs and tissues in the body. As a result, there are many beneficial effects including pain reduction.
That "Cracking" Sound
Your bones are not actually cracking. Adjustments open up the joint space, releasing gases that have been compressed into joint fluid. This separation of gas and fluid leaves room for the joint to move freely.
We hear your concern. While manual treatment is safe and effective, there may be reasons not to do it. Our computerised ProAdjuster system is comfortable & consistent, while remaining just as effective.
What Is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a natural, non-invasive method of healthcare developed by a Canadian over 100 years ago. Studies show that Chiropractic is safe and effective in the treatment of low back pain. But it also helps so much more. Chiropractors receive 4 years of post-graduate training that makes them experts in the treatment of muscle, joint and nerve complaints throughout the body.
Chiropractors are primary healthcare providers which means that you won’t need a referral from your family physician to see a chiropractor. Chiropractors use chiropractic and orthopedic testing to diagnose your painful or nagging muscle, joint or nerve condition. You will be treated with hands-on manual treatment that might include adjustments, pressure/trigger points, soft tissue treatments, as well as technology assisted treatments like ultrasound, low intensity laser therapy or orthotic therapy. Education in self care including stretching, use of ice and heat and specific exercises targeted to help support your painful condition, will be given to be done as homecare between treatments.
How Does Chiropractic Work?
Your body is basically self healing. When you get a cut, your body forms a scab and eventually repairs the skin. If the body is overwhelmed by an injury, it may need some help to heal. This is where chiropractic comes in. There are two ways chiropractic helps you get better. First, chiropractic removes difficulties that your body has doing specific motions. By correcting these difficulties, the mechanisms of the joints and muscles work better and with more ease. The second way chiropractic helps is in the way it affects our nervous system. Nerves connect the brain to the rest of the body by way of the spinal column. If a muscle, bone or disc is pressing or rubbing on the nerve, it will produce pain. That might lead to numbness or weakness in parts of the body away from the spine. Some people even feel discomforts like heart burn or fullness in their ears from interference of nerve signals. Make sure you mention all symptoms you are feeling to your chiropractor. They might be important to the development of your diagnosis.
