Take the First Step
Our experience tells us that most people can benefit from Custom Orthotic Inserts.
If you have painful feet, stand a lot, walk a lot, are a runner or wear high heels, Custom Orthotics Inserts might be a solution for you!
We examine your feet and do a Gait Scan Analysis to identify why you are experiencing pain. We might recommend a hands-on manual therapy, Custom Orthotic Inserts or both. We have years of experience fitting patients.
You don't have to suffer with nagging, painful foot conditions that might even cause pain further up in your body. Let us help you get some relief.
Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Spur)
Low Back Pain
What Is A Custom Orthotic?
We suggest that you always wear well built shoes. But, if you still have foot pain you might benefit from a pair of Custom Orthotics Inserts. These are custom supportive devices that are worn in your existing shoes. Custom Orthotic Inserts work to reduce stress and strain on your foot joints and muscles. They also correct how your feet move, so they function optimally. We use The Orthotic Group for manufacturing your Custom Inserts.
Custom Orthotics Inserts can reduce symptoms such as foot pain, plantar fasciitis, bunions, hammertoes, arch pain, heel pain, leg pain, knee pain, hip and low back pain. Like Prescription Glasses, Custom Orthotic Inserts need a period of time to adjust to and only work for you when you are wearing them.
Children benefit from Custom Orthotic Inserts too! When feet grow quickly, the location of the pressure points change quickly too, creating pain. Custom Orthotic Inserts help spread the pressure out, reducing pain and making sure children stay active.
In 2019 Extended Health Insurance Plans significantly reduced their coverage for footwear. If you are interested in Orthotic Footwear, you will most likely need to send in pre-approval paperwork that we can provide you with. Orthotic and Orthopaedic Footwear are not the same thing. We do not make Orthopaedic Footwear.
It is very important to check your insurance coverage before you book your appointment.
The fee for Custom Orthotic Inserts is $400 and we require a $150 deposit at the first appointment. The fee includes the examination, gait scan, foam cast and any paperwork required for you to submit to insurance. Insurance companies DO NOT allow Direct Billing for Orthotics.
Follow the steps in About Appointments.
Chiropractors Make Great Orthotics
Chiropractors are a great choice to diagnose and fit your Custom Orthotic Inserts because they are trained to see your body as a whole entity. The "source" of your pain might not originate where you "feel" the pain.
We will examine your foot for proper mobility and position. This may also include examining the muscles of the lower leg.
Next, we will look at how you stand to see if you pronate (roll in) or supinate (roll out).
We will perform a Computerized Gait Analysis to see exactly what your foot does while you stand and walk.
A foam cast of your feet will be taken, creating a perfect match of your feet and then sent to the laboratory for manufacturing.
Made to Measure
Your foot is in contact with the ground for less than one second. Imagine trying to determine normal or abnormal foot function with the naked eye in a quarter of a second? This is too difficult to do accurately for even the most experienced practitioner. The GaitScan system records your gait as you walk across the pressure plate. This enables us to have a clear picture of your foot mechanics and determine whether you would benefit from wearing custom made foot orthotics.
The TOG GaitScan™ System is a revolutionary diagnostic tool for assessing your biomechanics. GaitScan™ has an industry high 4096 sensors and scans at an industry high 300Hz (scans per second). These measurements provide a sophisticated explanation of foot mechanics and assists with choosing custom orthotic and/or shoe solutions.
